Reggae

This one goes out to all of my Dominicanos up on Broadway--especially my people in Washington Heights! From Jamaica to Mexico, Panama to Puerto Rico, the music of the Caribbean is in a class by itself.  The problem is, this music just doesn't get enough respect in the clubs--especially on the west coast.  This is yet another thing I miss about New York where DJs will play at least a solid hour of dancehall and/or reggaeton--depending on what neighborhood you are in.  Yeah, Rihanna and Shakira have brought a little bit of Barbados and Colombia to the mainstream clubs but it just ain't enough.  There is something so unique and universal about the sound--it's complex and conscious while remaining playful and accessible.  It is soul music in the truest sense of the word. This mix is for all those in the Caribbean Massive (as well as my people in Mexico, Central and South America) who taught me that DJing is a sacred practice and that we are all one culture and one people when we dance. Full LIVE version available NOW!
